WEIGHT MANAGEMENT CLINIC
Is your pet overweight?
Would you like help and support to help get your pet to its optimal body condition?
Then welcome to our weight management clinic!
It is estimated that 1/3 of animals in the UK are overweight. Obesity in pets can lead to a whole host of problems. It has been shown that overweight or obese pets are predisposed to conditions such as diabetes, endocrine disorders, heart conditions, arthritis, liver disease and respiratory disease. Obesity has also been shown to reduce life expectancy in pets by an average of two years!
Some of the reasons for pet obesity are shown below:
• Inadequate exercise
• Inappropriate diet
• Inappropriate tit bits and treats.
• Bad behaviour (begging, stealing)
• Excess dietary energy
• Breed susceptibility
• Neutering
• Underlying disease (very rare)
Weight management is crucial in keeping your pet healthy and reaching a healthy body condition can greatly improve their quality of life. In our weight management clinic we can give you advice and support on instituting a weight loss programme for your pet. We will measure and track your animal’s weight and help you to take steps to reduce it at a safe pace.
Clients enrolling in our weight management clinic will receive special offers on weight reduction food. Also in conjunction with Hill’s we are running a Pet Slimmer of the Month competition in our Morpeth branch. The winner each month will receive a free 4kg bag of Hill’s r/d food.
