Glendale Children's Day

The event is specifically planned by the Glendale Agricultural Society to give children of all abilities aged between 5 and 9 years, first-hand experience of rural life. The day is free of charge to schools and any first school from Northumberland and North Tyneside is eligible to apply for places. The event is organised by a very small but enthusiastic committee of volunteers, who are passionate about delivering this excellent event.

Through interactive demonstrations, our aim is to connect the countryside to the curriculum. During the day, over 1500 school children from Northumberland and North Tyneside will be given an insight into food, farming and the countryside. The day incorporates over 65 countryside-based industries and the children will have the opportunity to see farm animals and machinery close up and meet a variety of individuals and businesses that are part of the rural community.

Our marketing manager Rebecca and vet Dr Sara Sampson attended this years Countryside Day with a large stand for the children to interact and learn all about veterinary work and the tools used. As well as four legged helpers Jake and Olly the Spaniels and Oden the Labrador.

The stand was very popular and we hope the children learnt lots of valuable information - as well as being able to identify some very icky things in jars!
